HOME ENERGY AUDITING SCOPE AND PRICE LIST

HABITATION SOLUTIONS provides two types of Home Energy Audits.  Each type of audit is listed below with its corresponding price.

Note: I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE Homeowners to be present at the audit.   Home Energy Audits are meant to be interactive and Educational.

BlowerDoorBLOWER-DOOR AUDIT

This is a comprehensive audit.   All of the energy using components of the home are examined and documented.  The actual air-leakage is ascertained.

Two to 2 and a half hours will be spent with the customer, examining the home, looking for problems and discussing them.

The following actions will be taken:

  1. Ask the customer about any problems concerning comfort and energy efficiency
  2. Visual check of safety issues, such as presence of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  3. Take basic measurements to determine the size of the home
  4. Inspect and collect information (thickness and R-value) about the insulation
  5. Inspect and collect information about the attic, looking for insulation and ventilation
  6. Inspect and collect information about windows and doors for leaks and low-e glass
  7. Inspect and collect information about the furnace, water heater, air-conditioner, and thermostat, looking for efficiencies, and inquiring about servicing of the equipment
  8. Check duct-work, where exposed, looking for leakage
  9. Inspect and collect information about lighting, looking for high-efficiency lighting
  10. Inspect and collect information about appliances, looking for age and efficiencies
  11. Perform a Blower door test, which determines the amount of air-leakage
  12. Deliver a report addressing existing problems and recommendations for solutions to problems and help the customer prioritize fixes

BLOWER-DOOR AUDIT–$250

This audit is the most comprehensive audits.  All of the energy using components of the home are examined and documented.   The actual air-leakage is ascertained and the customer is shown where the air-leakage occurs.

Two and a half to 3 hours will be spent with the customer, examining the home, looking for problems and discussing them.

The following actions will be taken:

  1. Ask the customer about any problems concerning comfort and energy efficiency
  2. All actions listed under the BLOWER-DOOR AUDIT
  3. Take detailed measurements to determine the size of the home
  4. Perform infrared scanning, which pinpoints sources of the air-leakage in the home
  5. Deliver a report addressing existing problems and recommendations for solutions to problems and help the customer prioritize fixes

Please Note: If the customer wishes to have the BLOWER-DOOR AUDIT or INFRARED AUDIT performed, the following information is required from the customer:

  1. Customer Name
  2. Address of Home with zip-code where Audit is to be performed
  3. Customer Phone Number
  4. Customer e-mail
  5. Xcel Account Number
  6. Xcel Bills for the last 13 months—REQUIRED. If the customer does not have prior bills, Xcel can provide them
  7. Number of (full-time) Occupants
  8. Age of the home
  9. Age of the furnace and air-conditioner (if known)
  10. Information on any recent energy related upgrades (if available)

 

Full payment will be required at the conclusion of the Home Energy Audit.
